World Science Forum 2013

For the first time the World Science Forum (Wsf) will be held outside Europe. Hosted by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences in partnership with, Unesco, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the International Council for Science, the European Academies Science Advisory Council and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the sixth Wsf will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 24 to 27 November 2013. The main theme of this year edition will be 'Science for Global Sustainable Development'.

The forum is one of the world’s major science focused event. It normally brings together over 600 scientists and provides linkages between scientists, industry and policy makers. It also provides an opportunity young scientists and researchers to participate in and lead debates. This year’s opening ceremony will take place at the Municipal theatre of Rio de Janeiro and the remainder of the forum will be held at Hotel Windsor Atlantica in Brazil. The World Science Forum aspires to become to science what the Davos Forum is to economics.
