Canada-Italy: partnership for innovation

The round table 'Spin-off and start ups: innovation between universities, research and industry' will take place on 2nd October in Ottawa, at Carleton University. Organized by the Embassy of Italy in collaboration with Carleton University, University of Toronto and Canada's public policy forum, the meeting aims to promote the dialogue between the main actors in terms of innovation: the academic system as provider of know-how; industry as user of knowledge to reach its goals; institutions as supporter of the whole economical and scientific system and the venture capitalist.

"We believe that a wider coordination between these actors should be pursued due to the role played nowadays by scientific and technological innovation, either in developing new products or in creating new markets", says Emanuele Fiore, scientific attaché from Italy and Cnr researcher.

The meeting will begin with three collective assemblies titled 'Developing innovation strategies - public policies and current experiences', 'Establishing innovation and research partnerships - creating markets' and 'Funding Innovation'. Since the meeting is meant to stimulate debate between those present, wide room for discussion will be left after the speaker's speeches. Following in the afternoon, three thematic sessions (aerospace, agri-food, automotive) will be focused on new research projects, new start ups' opportunities and extension of network, considering the opportunity of a network's enlargement in Europe (Horizon 2020).
